We're always at Mother Nature's mercy when fishing and something I learned a long time ago, if the fish are not hungry, they are not going to eat. Many pros talk about moving to find active fish and keep looking for aggressive fish. There are days when this will work, and days when it won't. The old "Salty" captains down on the Gulf of Mexico where I used to commercial fish taught me a lot about moon phases, tides, and weather patterns along with the way fish react to all of these elements. 2000+ miles away to the north it's amazing to find these fish react in the same manner as a Grouper does in 300 feet of water.  Like I said ... some days are better left for the birds... hunting them that is. It also has a lot to do with the type of fish you're fishing for.

I will provide you with a guarantee that most guides don't offer. Catch no fish at all, and you pay me nothing!  That's it, and I will not mention it again, but if you read that, mention it and you have my word on it. Your thinking what is the catch, well only one. If you have not got a fish in the boat in the first half of your trip and you only want to fish for crappies and I might have said something like ... " There is a big bug hatch going on, and the bite has been tough." You have to switch and fish for a different species when the guide says it might be best or the deal is off. Trust me, I have no problem trying to coax a crappie to hit a bug on the fly rod even if they are so full of hatch they look like they're about to burst when you get one to the boat; but when they are full and done eating for the time being, it might be best to go after the action and switch over to blue gills or pike.
